Burmuda was a schooner that weighed 394 ton. The wreck is mostly intact and is located on the east side of Murray Bay at the south end of Grand Island. Fish life is abundant.
George was a 203' schooner that ran aground near the pictured rocks after the rigging gave way in a storm. Timbers are all that is left of the wreck. It is located off of Pictured Rocks north of Miners Castle.
Herman H. Hettler was a 210' wooden steamer. The steamer hit a reef and sunk. The wreck had to be dynamited since it was a hazard to navigation. Wreckage is scattered but the location is off the east end of Trout Pt. on Grand Island.
Kiowa was a steel steamer that was
251' long. The steamer ran aground after the cargo shifted in a blizzard.
There is some machinery left and other ship parts. It is located on a reef south of
Au Sable Pt.
Manhattan was a steamer that was 252' long
with a wooden hull. The ship burned to the water line but scattered wreckage and some
machinery can be found at the site. The wreck is located off the south end of Grand Island
to the north side of East Channel.
Sitka was a wooden steamer. The ship ran aground on a reef from an unknown reason. The following day a storm pounded the wreck into pieces on the rock. The wreck is a mass of timbers that is located about one mile off Au Sable Pt.
Smith Moore was a wooden hulled steamer built in 1880. The ship was 223' long. It sunk when it collided with the steam barge James Pickands. The wreck is located in the east channel between Grand Island and the Mainland.
Steven M. Selvick was a 71' tugboat. The tug was intentionally sunk on June 1, 1996. It rests on its port side. Doors on the wreck were permanently blocked open to make diving the wreck safer. Artifacts were left on the wreck to make it interesting. It is located off Grand Island N of Trout Pt.
Superior was built in 1845 in Perrysburg, Ohio. It was a sidewheel steamer that sunk in rough weather. The wreck is located off Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
